Saturday, September 16: 4th Annual Pilgrimage for Racial Justice
All are invited to join the faithful of the local Church community on a pilgrimage of prayer for racial justice and reconciliation in the Church and beyond. The pilgrimage will begin in prayer at Christ the King parish. Pilgrims will walk to the seat of the Archdiocese, the Cathedral of the Assumption, with stops at St. Martin de Porres and St. Augustine’s along the way. Each parish stop carries importance in the history of the Black Catholic Church in Louisville and is an opportunity for prayer and rest.
Pilgrims who start at Christ the King will walk just over 4 miles. If you want or need to walk for a shorter distance, you are invited to meet us at either stopping point or for the conclusion of the pilgrimage during the break times approximated below.

Please RSVP below for both Friday and Saturday events so we have a head count for our preparations. We look forward to learning, walking, and praying with you!
There are no fees for participation in this event because we believe this experience of prayer should be accessible to everyone. However, a suggested donation of $20/person helps us cover the expenses of hosting this event, and we ask you to consider contributing if you are able.
Please note that the start point and end point of the pilgrimage are about 4 miles apart. We recommend having a plan for your transportation before the start of the event. Options include arranging with someone drop you off at the start and pick you up at the end; arriving with two cars and time to leave one at the end and drive back to the start; or being prepared to take public transportation back to your vehicle at the end of the walk. There is free street parking available at Christ the King, parking lots at St. Martin’s and St. Aguustine’s, and metered street parking at the Cathedral.
