Walking with the Saints: A Pilgrimage for Mary Honoring her Assumption

Celebrate Mary’s Assumption (two days after the Solemnity) with a Marian pilgrimage! Join us at Our Lady of Guadalupe Diocesan Shrine and walk to Church of the Assumption, praying for Our Mother’s intercession.

Who: All are welcome. All youth (under the age of 18) must be accompanied by an adult.

What: A 3 mile walking pilgrimage

Where: From the Our Lady of Guadalupe (401 Concord St, St Paul, MN 55107) to the Church of the Assumption (51 7th St W, St Paul, MN 55102)

Why: To grow in Marian devotion and celebrate her Assumption into Heaven

When: Saturday, August 17. Pilgrimage begins with opening prayers at 9 AM. We will reach our destination around 10:15 AM. After closing in prayer and offering up your intentions, all are invited to join for casual coffee or brunch at Keys Cafe & Bakery (0.5 mile from Assumption).

How: In the interest of simplicity and keeping this a regular, free opportunity for embodied prayer and fellowship, transportation is not provided for this pilgrimage. We recommend: (a) arranging with someone else to drop you off and/or pick you up on either end; (b) recruiting a friend to join you and dropping one car at the end before 9, then driving together to the start; (c) being prepared to ride share or take public transportation back to the start; or (d) walking back.

If you’d like to participate in the sacraments prior to the pilgrimage with plenty of time to make it to the start on time, Church of the Assumption has daily Mass at 7 am. Or, if you don’t want as long a break before the start of the pilgrimage, St. Joe’s in West St. Paul has an 8 AM daily Mass (followed by Confessions at 8:30), leaving plenty of time to get to the nearby Our Lady of Guadalupe.
